The Barnes Method of Myofascial Release is gentle, intuitive structural release of the fascial structure using a variety of methods and holds. It is not a 'protocol' of steps, but rather works with the body through low load and sustained pressure over time to rehydrate the fascial tissue, allowing for spontanious movement, sound and emotion as part of the healing process. Each session is unique, and builds upon the last.
CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle yet powerful technique that is effective in releasing neck pain, back pain, and mental stress (among other things). It does this by optimizing the movement of cerebrospinal fluid through the spine and around the skull. Developed by physician William Sutherland, this therapy provides a very soothing and relaxing healing experience.
I apply the John F. Barnes method of Cranial Sacral Therapy, working with the cerebro spinal fluid, as well as fascial structure, of the cranial bones, and that of the inner cranium, and brain and spinal cord.
Reflexology is a type of bodywork that focuses on applying pressure to the specific nerve zones in your feet and hands. Unlike other foot massages that intend to mostly relieve tension in the feet themselves, reflexology is a far more in-depth science that aims to harmonize your entire body. According to reflexology, every part of the human body is mapped into your feet. Reflexology treatments have been found to be highly effective for conditions such as allergies, headaches, and depression.
I have had good success in treating patients with a variety of foot and body condtions by applying the Reflexology principle in a Myofascial manner. Applying gentler, longer holds to a tender foot and ankle and getting rapid reduction in swelling and arthitic or post surgerical pain. Hammer Toes, Arthritis, Plantar Fascitis, Morton's Neuroma, Bunions are just a few of the conditions I have treated with great success for patients.
Lymphatic Drainage Therapy aims to gently and rhythmically move the lymph through the body, especially swollen areas of the body, relieving pressure and enhancing the functioning of the immune system. As both a preventative and remedial technique, LD can be used for a wide range of purposes including faster recovery from injury, reduction of swelling and discomfort from pregnancy, and strengthened resistance to illness. I apply the Barnes Method of Myofascial Release to release the physical structure of the Fascial and Lymphatic System and light flushing strokes.
Movement education uses a custom-tailored approach to improving your body awareness and movement skills. Combining problem-solving, guided-discovery, and exploratory methods, this practice inevitably leads to a stronger connection between the mind and body, creating a more natural and graceful experience of movement and interaction with other people.
As part of MFR therapy, I will suggest stretches and movements and home care treatments as part of a on going educational training to allow you to maintain your new found freedom from the comfort of home! :)
